Background of the Study

Digital transformation, characterized by the integration of digital technologies across various organizational processes, has emerged as a cornerstone of modern business strategies. Corporate communication plays a pivotal role in facilitating this transformation by fostering internal alignment and external stakeholder engagement. Research (Ibrahim & Musa, 2023; Adamu, 2024) suggests that effective communication strategies are critical for addressing resistance to change, promoting technological adoption, and enhancing organizational transparency. In Dukku Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State, where businesses and institutions are increasingly digitizing operations, corporate communication serves as a bridge between traditional practices and digital innovations. Despite the transformative potential, challenges such as digital literacy gaps, infrastructural limitations, and cultural resistance hinder progress. This study explores how corporate communication influences digital transformation in Dukku, providing insights into the interplay between communication practices and technological advancement in a local context.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

While digital transformation offers immense opportunities for efficiency and innovation, its implementation is often fraught with challenges, particularly in regions like Dukku LGA. Organizations in the area face difficulties in articulating the benefits of digital initiatives, addressing employee and community concerns, and fostering a culture of technological adaptation. Ibrahim and Musa (2023) highlight that ineffective corporate communication exacerbates resistance to digital transformation, leading to project delays or failures. Furthermore, existing research tends to focus on global or urban contexts, neglecting the unique socio-economic and cultural dynamics of rural regions like Dukku. This gap necessitates an in-depth examination of how corporate communication can drive successful digital transformation in such settings, ensuring inclusive and sustainable development.
